Dr. Brad Tucker is a Fellow at the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Mt. Stromlo Observatory, Australian National University. His primary research focuses on supernovae—especially Type Ia supernovae—and cosmology, using them to trace the history of the Universe. He is involved in several major supernova surveys, including ESSENCE, the CFA Supernova Search, the Carnegie Supernova Project, SkyMapper, and leads the Kepler Extra-Galactic Survey (KEGS). He is also heading a project to build ultraviolet telescopes in the upper atmosphere.

Originally from Sacramento, California, he studied Physics, Philosophy, and Theology at the University of Notre Dame and earned his PhD at ANU. Beyond academia, Dr. Tucker actively engages with the public through talks, media segments, and projects like astronomy-themed coins with the Royal Australian Mint. He has also consulted on science fiction films and astronomy-based art, and appeared on the National Geographic Channel.
