On 6 March, combined with our Rotary meeting at WERN, we celebrated Women's Day to recognise all the women in Rotary Caroline Springs and everywhere. It was a special sharing with some of our members sharing a woman that haad made a difference.
 
As we have two members who love to run, they each spoke about a women that ran marathons. Wendy spoke about Kathrine Switzer  who set the standard for women running marathons. Kathrine is an activist, author and speaker. She quotes 

"If you are losing faith in human nature, go out and watch a marathon." — Kathrine Switzer

Nivi spoke about Tigst Assefa Tessema ,an Ethiopian long-distance runner and the marathon female world record holder. She is the only woman in history to run a marathon in under two hours 12 minutes and two hours 13 minutes. She has competed in and won two top-tier World Marathon Majors, both in Berlin. Kathy spoke about Bonnie Hancock World Record-Breaking Paddler, Community Leader, Speaker and Author. Explore the thrilling journey of a female mentor, discover her record-breaking feats, and dive into the wisdom she shares as a captivating speaker and author. Nilda spoke about Rabia Siddique. Rabia is a history making humanitarian, author and international keynote speaker, Rabia Siddique is a power house for change. David spoke about Demi Bennett who goes by the professional wrestling name of Rhea Ripley. Demi Bennett (born 11 October 1996) is an Australian professional wrestler. She is currently signed to WWE, where she performs on the Raw brand under the ring name Rhea Ripley. She is a member of The Judgment Day stable and is the current Women's World Champion in her first reign.
 
Ralph reminded us that we should remember our mothers and spoke about his mother and the hardships that she had to go through in raising him and her family. He always remembers her on his birthday. He reminded me of my mother who in Singapore had gone through the Japanese occupation.

On the 8 March Pauline and Nilda attended the Melton council invite for Internaitonal Womens day and had a great time listening to the speakers and enjoying the company of the councillors.
