When Maureen’s name was called, she stepped onto the stage with the humility and dignity that comes as no surprise to anyone who knows her. This week, Melton’s Maureen Mohr was one of just 24 women inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women, recognition reserved for outstanding Victorians whose leadership and achievements leave a lasting mark on the community.
Her induction recognises and celebrates her tireless service to her community and the causes that are close to her heart: from supporting women escaping family violence, to helping run school and church breakfast clubs; from advocating for and helping run the Mobile Soup Van feed people experiencing hardship, to serving 11 years as an Ageing Well Ambassador for Council’s Community Care & Active Living team. And that is only part of her story.
At 76 years, Maureen Mohr embodies the very best of what it means to be a member of a community: generosity, dedication, compassion. We are beyond fortunate to count her as one of ours, and now, fittingly, she is recognised among Victoria’s most honourable.
