What a pleasure it was to have District Governor (DG) Dale Hoy and Assistant Governor (AG) Westside Cluster Michael Lapina join us on zoom on 6th Oct 2021 during our weekly Wednesday zoom meeting.

Our westside cluster comprises of the following rotary clubs: Bacchus Marsh, Melton, Mountain Valley, Eynesbury, and Caroline Springs. Prior to the meeting, board members for 2021-2022 were introduced to DG Dale, Kathy Hall (President), Ross Butterworth (Secretary), Nilda Escalante (Club Service), Annette Butterworth (Treasurer), Wendy Gadsby (Foundation), Nivedita Nagarale (Youth service) and Ronald Moss (Public Image and communication. As we are a small club we also covered a few other roles  such as membership, bulletin, and environment sustainability.

At 7pm our meeting officially started and the other members joined in together with Alex Lapina. DG Dale proceeded to tell us about his plan as current DG for D9800 and the Rotary theme for 2021-2022 which is "Serve to Change Lives." Serve, as service is the DNA of Rotary as an international humanitarian/service organisation. To change Lives, in that our service is sustainable and has a lasting impact. He was glad to see that our website has that logo, Serve to Change Lives on the home page. He explained his plan and what he means for him. In particular the Rotary vision which is "Together we see a world", where people unite and take action, to create lasting change across the globe in our communities and in ourselves.

Whilst he recognised that we are a small club, we are part of a larger whole and together we can change our communities and the world around us. His key message was that D9800 will help clubs and Rotarians increase their impact and reach within our communities, and his goal was to also increase our relevance in these communities.

These are his key priorities for D9800:

1. Significant projects (identify, raise the impact and profile
2. Community connectedness  (corporate, Alumni, Community groups)
3. Pathway to Rotary (Stronger ways for young people to connect with Rotary)
4. District effectiveness (District learning tools, Public image tool kits)

Thank you DG Dale for your insight.
